Summary
Clacy was born in England and remained there much of her life, writing novels and children's books. She travelled to the Victorian goldfields with her brother in 1852-3, and published a vivid and personal account of her adventures in A Lady's Visit to the Gold Diggings of Australia in 1852-1853: Written on the Spot. After returning to England Clacy also published Lights and Shadows of Australian Life (1854), a book of short stories and sketches with Australian themes.
