Cooper was an Englishman who spent time adventuring in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales in the 1840s and 50s. Wild Adventures in Australia and New South Wales (1857) is a fictionalised account of his experiences, filled with scenes of daring and excitement from the outback to the goldfields.
